To serve on a Parish Council is a ministry and all those who serve are called to represent Christ and the Orthodox Faith to all whom they meet in all aspects of life.
The Philoptochos Society is the duly accredited international women's philanthropic organization of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. The St. Andrew Chapter (SAWPS) remains active in carrying out its mission by helping those in need as well as supporting our church community.
The priests, staff, and laity provide a network of care to support individuals and families in times of need and crisis. The need for pastoral care is usually prompted by an unexpected event: a death in the family, a serious medical diagnosis, relationship difficulties, etc.
Parent Teacher Organization (PTO)
The PTO’s purpose is to provide services that benefit the Sunday School and Greek School students.
Introduction to the Orthodox Christian Church: An Adult Catechism Class
All those interested in learning more about the Orthodox Christian Faith are invited to join us.
Adult Education Opportunities
Bible Study and Orthodoxy and Contemporary Issues discussions seek to help us learn about our Faith, while applying it to our daily life.
Give us a Word: Book Discussion
*Give us a word...* is an opportunity to get together and reflect upon simple yet spiritually insightful books. Each week a commitment is made to read one chapter (~20 pages) and following Liturgy on Sundays there will be a discussion in the President's Room.
A Ministry for our Seniors
The St. Andrew Choir is comprised of parishioners who offer their time and talent. These dedicated women and men sing Sacred Hymnology during Sunday Divine Liturgy and other Holiday Services.
The Sunday Church School program begins at 9:30 a.m. with Family Worship at Divine Liturgy. Classes begin at after Holy Communion and are dismissed at 11:45. This program is designed to give students an awareness of the Orthodox way of life.
Our mission is to provide an educational opportunity for students to develop knowledge of the Hellenic (Greek) language, cultural heritage, and tradition in an Orthodox Christian environment.
Mommy and Me
Mommy and Me is a playgroup for children in infancy through the toddler years and their caregivers (Mommy, Daddy, Yiayia, etc). The group also fosters a sense of community for both the children, as well as the parents. Each class begins with circle time, which includes a prayer, singing, and a brief lesson on our faith, and is followed by a craft activity and/or free play.
All College Students are encouraged to join us. The Orthodox Christian Fellowship (OCF) is the official collegiate campus ministry program under SCOBA. Our mission is to support experience and witness to the Orthodox Christian Church through community life, prayer, service to others and study of the Faith.
The acolytes, in assisting the priest in our Divine Services, represent the angels serving our Father in Heaven. At St. Andrew, boys who are 8 years or older are welcome to participate in this important ministry.
The St. Andrew Junior GOYA Basketball Team is comprised of boys and girls ages 14 and under.
The Junior Orthodox Youth, or JOY, is a ministry to Kindergarten through 5th grade children of the St. Andrew Greek Orthodox Church. The mission and goal of the JOY ministry is to lead our young people into experiencing the Holy Orthodox Faith
JR & SR GOYA
The Greek Orthodox Youth of America, or GOYA, is the ministry to teenagers of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. Junior GOYA is a ministry for those in grades 6-8; Senior GOYA is a ministry for those in grades 9-12. "Feeding the Hungry"
Philoptochos is once again participating in a National Philoptochos initiative that is committed to serve 1,500,000 meals nationwide by the National Clergy Laity in July 2020. Our Philoptochos served over 27,000 meals between July 2016 and June 2018. You can help with this cause by filling the container in the Narthex. It costs $2 for a sack lunch. To become a part of this OUTREACH PROGRAM, or donate product, please contact Vicki Karagianis at 773-327-3194 or Vonnie Karafotias at email@example.com. Let's help those in need!!
